Death to bourgeois naturalism! Long live the dictatorship of the imagination!
From my earliest memories of my late sainted mother lulling me into uneasy slumber with her own extra-grim versions of Grimm’s fairy tales, I’ve always been captivated by the fantastic, stuff that transported the eager reader beyond the mundane limits of the material world: science fiction, fantasy, horror and comics.
The latter item we’ll deal with elsewhere on this site, but in this particular wing of my madhouse, I store assorted musings and ravings on the weird and fantastic as manifested both in cold print and the moving image on big and small screens alike … including some of the round-ups I used to do when reviewing SF for Time Out and horror for the Daily Telegraph.
There are things mortal man was never meant to know. Engage!
